We believe in learning what you need to know rather than everything there is to know. Work Smart, Not Hard.
Pinyin In Six Weeks
This is your guide to mastering Mandarin phonetics—the absolute dealbreaker for effective communication. We get you started on the right foot, building a rock-solid foundation in the four tones and every essential sound you need to confidently pronounce any word and read any sentence.
Week One - Master the five tones with a quick memorization device (we teach the secret fifth tone that often gets ignored). Start getting a grasp for how pinyin works to spell out the sounds represented by Chinese characters.
Week Two - Get down to some serious exercises by learning the first batch of phonetic combinations. We also introduce how to mix and match tones to change the meaning.
Week Three - Learn the next batch of initials and finals to expand upon your already growing phonetic library. Start matching sounds to common words you’ll use in everyday speech.
Week Four - Complete exploration of all sounds. We start reading short texts and continue to combine phonetic sounds to new vocabulary.
Week Five - The real workout begins! Read longer texts and continue to drill those tones. We make sure you are sticking to the right pronunciation and stay on track.
Week Six - Complete your journey through a final review and by testing your new gained ability!
Mandarin: Up and Running
Week One – Identity & Time Logistics: Build your core toolset from day one. You will master pronoun usage, basic introductions, and the art of mapping out time (days, weeks, and hours) so you can immediately anchor your conversations.
Week Two – Navigating Space & Location: Start moving through the physical world. This week tackles direction markers and the essential structures needed to explain exactly where you are, where you’re going, and where things are kept.
Week Three – The Power of Curiosity (What, When, Where): Unlock your ability to drive conversations. We break down how to properly ask questions out in the wild so you can actively gather information and engage with native speakers.
Week Four – Mechanics of Action (How & Ability): Dive into the mechanics of daily life. You will master how to ask "How?", describe the way things are done, express your specific abilities, and ask for step-by-step directions.
Week Five – The Blueprint Assembly Workout: The real heavy lifting begins. We take everything you’ve learned—person, time, location, and action—and stack them together into complete, natural paragraphs, shifting you from short phrases to continuous speech.
Week Six – Real-World Simulations & Review: Complete your journey by putting your grammar blueprint to the test. We run through practical conversational simulations to ensure you have the speed, confidence, and reflexes to handle everyday interactions on the fly.
This is the meat and bones of the language (or fruits and veggies if you are a vegetarian). We break the language down into it’s most basic components. Wherever similarities can be found between English and Mandarin we form strong links that improve retention. Rather than learning everything there is to know, you will learn the parts of the language that really matter!
